We are huge fans of JJ Potts and their ceramic art and love their squirrel-proof birdfeeders. These bird feeders are tube-shaped and hold bird seeds. The colorful ceramic top is easy to remove and the seeds can be refilled.
For easy cleaning, the bottom plug can be removed as well and the whole feeder can be hosed out - just hold it under the faucet.
Unlike JJ Potts' ceramic Shroomyz, these seed bird feeders can be left outside all year long, winter & summer.
What Makes this Seed Feeder Squirrel Proof?
Our bird feeder has a ceramic top which has a 90% smooth surface. The surface makes it difficult for squirrels to grab a hold. Because the feeder hangs from a wire, it also stars to circle and swing as soon as a heavy animal other than a small birds tries to "land" on it. The movement plus the lack of a place to hold on to makes this is a predator-safe feeding place for small birds.
A total of six (6) feeding holes are available for your birds - each hole has an acrylic perch, about 2" long, in front of the feeding hole for birds to sit on.
The tube is also made from ceramic clay and hand-made by JJ Potts. This particular style of hanging bird feeder is the first and original design by JJ Potts and is our favorite - the clay for the tube is first twisted by hand, then textured to resemble a real tree.
