Imagine a fresh bunch of sunflowers in the middle of your dining room table. Hard to imagine that these big and beautiful flowers can grow from a tiny seed. Don't you wish you could capture their freshness and fragrance?
Brooke Howie's Sunflower Painting makes me almost smell the scent from each flower petal and leave. Two sunflowers are open blooms (close-up below), three others in the background are still closed making it appear as if this bouquet will grow more vibrant as the day goes on. One of the sunflower buds looks like it want to open up at any moment.
In a light blue vase, Brooke's Floral Bouquet seems to capture the morning sun, asking you to sit down at your dining room table, have a cup of coffee and wait for the other flower buds to open up.
I met Ms. Howie at our local art & wine festival and was impressed with the way she captured the light and atmosphere of fresh flowers. This particular painting has bold and forceful brush strokes, as if the artist tried to capture the entire bunch of sunflowers in a painting before the sunflight fades.
