A spectacular Flower Painting in a style that is unmistakingly Brooke Howie's.
Brooke Howie painted three vases full of flowers on a french countrystyle table cloth. Throughout her other paintings, this is one of two(?) that show more than one Flower Bouquet.
The first flower vase is filled with a big bunch of tulips and Calla Lilis. The tulips are still closed, the flower buds are yellow and dark red, almost purple. The Calla Lilis have the same shape as in other flower paintings. Brooke Howie, again, shows her consistency in her painting technique.
The intricate and very detailed art work on each of the three flower vases resemble patterns in the tablecloth. The style is called French Countrystyle Decor. For example, the leaves in the third vase resemble the leaves in the French countrystyle tablecloth (lower left, green).
Ms. Howie used very fine and tiny brush strokes to create the beautiful design on the tablecloth.
The flowers in each vase are surrounded by dark green leaves. The leaves are another signature artwork by Brooke Howie: she surrounds her flower bouquets with long and slender leaves, always painting with strong and bold brush strokes using dark green colors.
The White Flowers in the third vase (far right side) again can be easily recognized as a Brooke Howie style: The white flowers are very similar to the ones in her "Wimsical" Flower Bouquet Painting Series.
The tablecloth represents the popular French countrystyle - thoughts of sunfilled days in Tuscany or in the Province come to mind. The table cloth has a variety of different designs -as you look closely, you will see that some of her tiny designs repeat itself either on a vase or as part of a flower bouquet.
Brooke Howie's Flower Paintings are often on a table covered with tablecloth resembling this style. Again, this is another one of her styles that only she can create.
This Flower Painting is one of just a few pieces of original art that Brooke Howie painted using oil paint.
